COURSE 4

Batá Patterns Adapted to the Conga

Batá drums are an endless source of rhythms, melodies, and nuances used in Yoruba ceremonies, performed by three percussionists. In this course, we offer you the opportunity to learn how to develop batá drum patterns on the congas through simple adaptations, respecting the main melodies that emerge between the okonkolo, itotele, and iya. These adaptations are designed for a two- and three-conga setup, where it is essential to understand the patterns in relation to the clave and to develop strong independence!
Your rhythm bank will expand even further!
Some of these adaptations are accompanied by the chant for the corresponding Orisha—enjoy!
